The main concept for this store is that of an urban loft, whose “kitchen” is the sales-counter. This is conceived as a “red- tongue” that acts as spatial divider and display tray for some of the furniture, both suggesting a destination and an identity for the space. Its uniqueness lays in the store beaconing as a clear signal for a larger urban transformation, that is reshaping a historically radical part of the city (Harlem), while suggesting that modernism is a consolidated style, people are attracted to.
