Hudson Tea Residence Hoboken, NJ, U.S.A.

Located within a former tea factory, the space called for a better use of its spectacular interior height and industrial look. The Owners asked us to help them achieve a lofty feeling without losing the existing multiple bedroom configuration. In addition a challenging task required us to provide separate spaces for the children and a possible guest room. Our design hinges around a flexible “box” (nicknamed “cocoon”) that floats between the bedroom and the re-configured living area. It activates and engages the entire house, creating endless uses (kids’ beds, guest bedroom, sofa, passageway, play zone.)
